SPFR100 is a transparent, water-based fire-retardant impregnation for absorbent timber - not an intumescent paint. It penetrates into the wood and leaves no surface film, preserving the natural look of the timber. It is used across a wide range of softwoods and engineered timber - spruce, pine, aspen, alder, western red cedar, CLT and glulam - on facades, cladding, interiors and structural timber. Its published EuroClass B-s1,d0 reaction-to-fire classification (EN 13501-1) is certified for the spruce configuration; other species and configurations require project-specific verification.

SPFR100 is designed for absorbent softwoods - spruce, pine, aspen, alder and western red cedar - and engineered timber such as CLT and glulam, which are typically spruce-based. It is used on facades, cladding, interior panelling, ceilings and structural timber. Previously painted, lacquered or oiled surfaces need a compatibility assessment, because a sealed surface can block absorption. The published B-s1,d0 classification is established for spruce; other configurations require project-specific verification.
Covers: spruce timber at least 18 mm thick, treated on all sides at at least 240 g/m2, without an additional coating (classification report K16/2024, certificate ET-0388-24).

Is SPFR100 an intumescent paint?
No. SPFR100 is an impregnation that penetrates into absorbent wood and leaves no surface film. Intumescent paints form an opaque coating that swells in fire; SPFR100 keeps the natural, uncovered appearance of the timber.
Which wood does the B-s1,d0 classification cover?
The published classification is established for spruce at least 18 mm thick, treated on all sides at at least 240 g/m2 without an additional coating. Other species and configurations require project-specific verification.
Can SPFR100 be applied over paint or oil?
SPFR100 needs an absorbent, unsealed surface. Previously painted, lacquered or oiled wood requires a compatibility assessment, because a sealed surface can block absorption.
Is it safe for indoor use?
Yes. SPFR100 is VOC-free, solvent-free, formaldehyde-free and holds the M1 indoor air quality classification (certificate 5096).
Does it change the colour of the wood?
Untinted SPFR100 is transparent and keeps the natural look of the timber. It can also be tinted in a range of tones while remaining translucent.
