SPFR100 is a transparent, water-based fire-retardant impregnation that can also be tinted. The tone is part of the same treatment, so the wood gets fire protection and color from one product. This guide explains how to choose a tone and what affects the final result.
01The SPFR100 tone range
SPFR100 is available clear and in a range of standard tones, which you can browse in the tone visualizer. Custom shades can be requested to a RAL or NCS reference. Whether a custom shade can be achieved, and how it looks on your wood, is confirmed on a sample.
02What affects the final color
SPFR100 penetrates the wood and stays translucent, so the wood itself remains part of the result. The wood species, the natural color and absorbency of the surface, a sawn or planed finish, and the number of coats and amount applied all affect the tone. The same tone can look different on spruce, pine or thermally modified wood.
03Use the visualizer for a first choice
The visualizer shows the tones on timber facades and helps narrow down the options. Screens and lighting differ, so use it for preselection and confirm the final tone on a sample of the actual wood.
04Approve the tone on a sample
Ask for a sample on the wood and surface you will use, approve the tone on it and keep it as the reference for the project.
05Check suitability for your project
The B-s1,d0 classification (EN 13501-1) applies to the tested and certified configuration. For a tinted system, other substrates, additional coatings or exterior use, check suitability against the project requirements and the technical documents, and ask us to assess the build-up.
